The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) came into force on 6th April 2015 and are the main set of regulations for managing the health, safety and welfare of construction projects.  CDM applies to all building and construction work including new build, demolition, refurbishment, extensions, conversions, repair and maintenance with the new regulations making significant changes to duty holder’s responsibilities. 

SDA Consulting are experienced health and safety advisors with a solid track record in providing health and safety advice through qualified consultants with extensive construction safety experience.   We provided competent Planning Supervision and CDM Co-ordination services for many years under the previous CDM 1994 and 2007 Regulations with experience ranging from major demolition projects to new build and refurbishment and upgrade projects.  Our team therefore have the technical knowledge of the construction industry, an understanding of how health and safety is managed through the design process and the skills to be able to oversee health and safety during the pre-construction phase of the project and the on-going design.   Services  include:

  • Principal Designer Services managing and controlling the design stages of a construction project from concept to completion to ensure health and safety risks are properly identified, considered, managed and controlled.  
  • CDM Advisor/CDM Consultant - with the introduction of the new regulations we are working with a number of clients and Principal Designers to advise and assist them in performing their new onerous duties under CDM 2015.   We understand that every project is different and can adapt our services to the bespoke requirements of each client. 
  • Designer services with our experienced designers applying the  general principles of prevention, avoiding or reducing risks that arise during construction and associated work and improving the way in which risks are  managed and controlled.

Our consultants are experienced construction safety professionals and members of a range of professional bodies including Membership of IOSH, Incorporated Members of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPS) , Members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Members of the Association of Project Management.    We have embraced the new legislation with our IMaps qualified staff having passed the APS’s CDM 2015 exam thus providing assurance to clients that they are using a knowledgeable professional.
