Environment and Sustainability

SDA Consulting LLP have extensive experience on a high number of sustainable developments and have helped our forward thinking clients to make a huge impact as they progress their carbon management plans. Our experience includes:

  • 2.1MW Wind Turbine Project, Lancaster University – the scheme is estimated to save the University £500,000 per year cutting the University’s carbon footprint by 2,802 tonnes of CO2.
  • £30.4m Sustainable Student Village, the Green, The University of Bradford - which achieved a BREEAM Outstanding rating and a National BREEAM Award. It also won a Green Gown Award in the Construction and Refurbishment category and was Highly Commended in the Carbon Reduction category for its toolkit for waste which saw landfill reduced by 83%.
  • £19m Eco Student Residences, Leeds Metropolitan University - which won a National BREEAM Award with two townhouse units achieving the Passive House Standard.
  • £32m Eco Student Residences, Lancaster University – which won 5 environmental awards including a National BREEAM Award.
  • HEFCE Green Fund Projects at Lancaster University including thermal store, LEC LED lighting replacement & service spine pipework insulation upgrade.
  • Salford Energy House - a terraced house built inside a University of Salford research laboratory to enable advanced energy experiments aimed at improving the energy efficiency of ageing housing stock.

We are also fully committed to reducing our own impact on the environment and to support us to achieve this we have taken a positive step to become a Carbon Smart Certified business. By achieving Carbon Smart Gold Certification our business has reduced its environmental impact and demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement. As a result of our positive environmental actions we have reduced our carbon footprint from 52.9 to 20.2 and will continue to work to reduce our footprint further.
